KAMAL BEVERLY HILLS: A BOUTIQUE YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

I told you guys last week that exciting things were in store for PFH and a boutique called KAMAL Beverly Hills.  Well, I am thrilled to share with you what this boutique offers! I did a few styling sessions with KAMAL for two different looks and will continue to do plenty more in the future. I constantly get asked where I get my long sleeve dresses from, and now I can share with you one of the best options for hijabis or women who prefer to dress modestly.

KAMAL’s aesthetic is a modern twist to the “East meets West” look. They offer a variety of dresses, jackets, skirts, and accessories. Below are pictures of their MALA maxi dress that I absolutely love. Now, you may have seen this style before but what makes KAMAL different is their customization options. They offer full customization of the MALA line, where clients can choose from dozens of colors and fabrics paired with over 20 different embellishment styles. You can create the perfect MALA dress according to your own personal preferences. I chose to add gold paisley embellishments to the shoulders, belt, and cuffs. It completely transformed the dress! MALA dresses start at $225 and customization options vary, but for the version I chose it was $295. I paired it with their gold vine crystal clutch, which is legitimately one of the nicest clutches I’ve ever seen. It’s so elegant and unique; it runs for $395. To finish the look I wore an opaque scarf by Kinza from their new line. They are so luxurious looking I love them. Perfect for weddings and fancier occasions.

If you live in the Los Angeles area you need to book an appointment with the owner Sabaa Kamal. She is such a sweetheart and a doll to work with. Interview with Sabaa Kamal Founder of KAMAL Beverly Hills:

As a Law School Graduate, what sparked your interest in fashion?

Ever since I can remember I have loved all things fashion, style and glam. Some of my earliest memories as a child are of me stomping on my brother’s hand-me-down sweatshirts that my mom was trying to get me to wear for school. My mom tells me I used to throw fits pretty much every morning when getting dressed because I wanted to wear my frilly dresses with my sparkly headband. – “Confessions of a mini-Diva” So after I graduated law school, I decided to take a leap of faith instead of following the well-worn path. I decided to pursue my dream of launching a groundbreaking luxury East meets West fashion movement, Kamal Beverly Hills. Kamal represents all that I am and what I love in the world of fashion and fills a gap in the fashion market for luxury designer pieces inspired by the beauty of the East benefiting marginalized populations around the world.

How has KAMAL evolved since launching the boutique two years ago?

KAMAL has gone through such an amazing evolution as a brand that when I think back to where we started almost two years ago I am literally in awe of how far we have come. One of the essential qualities of a successful business is the ability to be responsive and adapt to the demands of your clientele. With Kamal, I learned to be adaptive and adjust my vision as I learned more about what my clients were really looking for. My essential vision always stayed the same - socially conscious Eastern designer fashion statements delivered in a luxury shopping environment - it was just the details that were and are constantly adjusted to meet the demands of our clientele. Every piece that I select to carry in the store has to speak to me, and now I have the knowledge of exactly what pieces will also speak to our clientele.

Who is KAMAL’s targeted clientele?

Kamal’s clientele is pretty diverse. About half of our clientele is Indian/Pakistani/Middle Eastern, and the other half of our clientele is widely diversified including people that have no ethnic connection to the East. Kamal caters to the modern woman who appreciates the beauty and intricacy of Eastern cultures and traditions.

What is KAMAL’s aesthetic and motto?

Kamal’s aesthetic is a unique blend of Eastern intricacy and detailing with the modern cuts and angles of the West. Kamal’s motto is Eastern Luxe. We love our Kamal tag lines #wearcoutureeveryday #eastmeetswest #coutureforacause #lookgooddogood.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since starting KAMAL?

I have learned so much in these past two years including a lot of important life lessons. Being an entrepreneur is the most scary and rewarding thing at the same time. Each milestone and achievement of Kamal has been such a gratifying yet humbling experience. I have learned to stick to my convictions and vision but not be stubborn, to trust my instinct and to appreciate constructive criticism.

Where do you hope to see KAMAL in the next year?

Every year Kamal has grown beyond my expectations and we have achieved more than I could have ever imagined. In our first two years we dressed celebrities, socialites and members of international royalty. Kamal Beverly Hills has been officially named one of the top luxury shopping destinations of Beverly Hills by The Beverly Wilshire: A Four Seasons Hotel. Through our Couture For A Cause program we have sponsored the education and well being of over 100 young girls in some of the poorest villages of Pakistan. In the next year I hope to keep growing, making more style dreams come true, and helping more women and children around the world.
