For ThrowBackThursday I wanted to share with you some footage from my recent trip to Lake Tahoe a few weeks ago. My god the snow was absolutely magical!! It was powdery and fluffy in texture and such a site to see. The snow was up to my knees! They got so much snow this year that they are keeping the slopes open through to April.
Being from the East Coast but living in Southern California, you don’t get a taste of an authentic winter season unless you take a trip to the national parks and mountains. The irony is that California has some of the most beautiful mountainous landscapes in the nation, so I’m lucky to be able to experience them when I’m itching for a proper winter.
If you haven’t heard of Lake Tahoe, it’s a breathtaking freshwater lake located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains but falls on the border of both California and Nevada. We stayed at Homewood Mountain Resort located in Meeks Bay, which is on the south west region bordering California. My family flew out from the East Coast and my in-laws flew up from Los Angeles. We rented a home on the lake near Homewood Ski Resort for the weekend. It was such a memorable family trip. On our way back we got stuck in a snow storm, which quadrupled the amount of time it took us to drive back to San Francisco. We were literally in the car driving for 10 hours straight! But it was a breathtaking winter wonderland ride, I must say.
Anywho, enjoy this brief trailer from the trip and some photos. You’ll get to see how great of a skier I am, and by that I mean watch me pizza my way down the slopes for 3 hours. Ya I’m THAT good. After this trip I realized that I really want to brush up on my skiing skills and graduate from the bunny slopes haha! After all, Boulder Colorado is my second hometown! Next year hopefully.
