I got some of the best outfit shots during my visit home to Virginia during the holidays, so you are in for a treat! This one was taken in my backyard. The bare trees and scenic landscapes were a special kind of winter wonderland for me. As for this outfit, I absolutely adore it. What I love most about it is that everything I'm wearing I've had for a few years and reworked them for a fresh and new look. My mom would be so proud because she's always reminding me that I don't need to buy new things every season and can just "mix and match" haha!
On that note, I am officially starting a new series on the blog called #NoNewClothes where I am challenging myself to not buy any new clothes or shoes through to the Spring. I think it's safe to say that I have way more clothes and shoes than I need and they just don't get warn enough, so I want to use this opportunity to maximize everything that I already own. Every outfit post you will see going forward are of items I already own prior to today's date; some pieces I've had but I've never warn so they may look new to you. Do you think I'll make it till the Spring? I hope so! I'll be sharing lots of tips on how I'm able to re-wear and re-work a lot of my stuff. Join me in this challenge buy tagging your pics with #getPFH and #nonewclothes. We can share tips together! It's a great way to maximize your closet, save money, and overcome the need to always have the latest and greatest.
As for the details of this outfit, this is what winter fashion is all about: the art of layering tastefully! The color scheme I went for was red, white, and camel colored hues. Love rocking my red skinnies this time of year, it's so festive with the holidays you blend right in. I paired them with this gorgeous wrapped cocoon sweater from Free People. I wore a white long sleeve turtle neck under it for more coverage on the arms. Then I wore my suede gold metal toe cap boots that I will forever love!! Schutz has outdone themselves with these bad boys. I got them two years ago and I can't find them online - so sorry! I tucked in my scarf to accentuate the turtle neck and wore a long duster coat to finish the look. I added a Burberry printed scarf that just so happened to tie in all the colors together.
